Federation Values

Federation Vision and Values

Healthy, Happy and Hungry to Learn

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

The Woodland Federation aims to create a safe, supportive and stimulating environment in which pupils are enthused about learning.  We want our children to be SMILERS; healthy, happy and hungry to learn.

We are committed to giving all our children access to a broadly based and balanced curriculum that is suited to their individual needs. We always try to take account of their interests, and to ensure that everyone has an equal chance to do their best. We want pupils to be excited by the opportunities available, and seek to foster their natural curiosity, enabling them to become self-motivated, active learners who understand that taking risks is part of the learning process.

We strive to develop our pupils academically, socially and emotionally so that they become resilient and well-rounded individuals who appreciate the world we live in and have the skills to be useful, active, productive and engaged members of society. We encourage our pupils to understand and value the democratic process and offer regular opportunities to practise ‘having their say’.

The Woodland Federation is a highly inclusive community. We foster strong partnerships with parents and work hard to ensure that all members of our federation community feel valued. We aim to develop in children a caring, tolerant and respectful attitude to others and a positive appreciation of the diversity within school and in the wider community.

The intent of all actions are built on the following premises:

  • That we will encourage our school community to become SMILERS
  • That we will teach our children that success lies within themselves and we will help them to find the key to unlock this by developing:

S     Spirituality

M    Motivation

I     Individuality

L     Lifelong Learning

E     Equality

R     Respect

S     Supportive
